Job description

General Summary

Responsible for washing and storing utensils, dishes, pots, and pans. Transports produce from the walk‑in refrigerated area to the kitchen. Assists with salad preparation, meat slicing, and performs other food preparation and cooking duties as requested. Empties trash when necessary.

Principal Duties / Responsibilities

• Transport produce from walk‑in refrigerated areas to the kitchen.
• Rinse dishes in the sink with a flexible spray hose, load into racks, place pots and pans on a tray, and load into the dishwasher; start the cycle (≈4minutes) and remove completed items, then carry pots, pans, and dishes to clean areas and store until needed (repeating 60–100 times per day).
• Wash the sink and maintain cleanliness of all work areas.
• Prepare salad ingredients: wash, slice, rinse, store in containers, and place in the refrigerator.
• Take out garbage to the area behind the fence and transport to the large dumpster on the street (≈200yards).
• Fill in for other kitchen staff as requested; may assist with cooking, baking, and/or other food preparation.

Working Conditions

The kitchen is in a renovated historic home with limited space and uses commercial dishwasher, slicing machine, mixer, knives, utensils, bowls, pots, and pans. Employees work extended periods at a hot and humid workstation; heat may be uncomfortable. Uniform, hair net, protective eyewear, non‑skid shoes, and protective gloves are required. The area is noisy and requires receptive communication skills. Shifts typically last eight or nine hours and include availability on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
