Job summary

Temple Beth-El in Northbrook, Illinois, seeks a Development & Donor Engagement Manager to coordinate philanthropy and donor engagement. This part-time role (25 hours/week) reports to the Executive Director and works with clergy, staff, and volunteers to advance fundraising goals.

The successful candidate will manage campaigns, donor stewardship, events and communications; maintain donor records, generate reports, and cultivate relationships to connect giving with meaningful impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Two to five years of experience in development, philanthropy or related nonprofit fields.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, clergy and colleagues.
• Experience with CRM/donor management systems (ShulCloud preferred) and MS Office/Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement philanthropy campaigns and donor engagement.
• Manage campaign timelines, donor tracking, and follow-up activities.
• Support major gifts, sponsorships, endowment and legacy giving.
• Maintain and strengthen donor relationships through stewardship and recognition.
• Coordinate donor acknowledgments, impact reporting, and engagement opportunities.
• Manage tribute and recognition programs and engagement opportunities.
• Support donor cultivation led by clergy, lay leadership, and the Executive Director.
• Coordinate philanthropic and donor engagement events.
• Recruit, support and coordinate volunteers for development activities.
• Foster a culture of philanthropy across the congregation.
• Maintain donor records and gift tracking.
• Generate reports and analyze giving trends.
• Manage donor segmentation and communications lists.
• Conduct prospect research and deepen donor engagement opportunities.
