Job summary

The Village of Orland Park is seeking a Part-Time Detention Aide to support the Police Department’s detention operations, including processing detainees and maintaining facility cleanliness.

Responsibilities include live-scan monitoring, bond processing, and detainee file handling; candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, some criminal justice coursework preferred, and be available Sundays through Saturdays for 25–29 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• College coursework in criminal justice preferred.
• At least 2 years of work experience is needed.
• Some computer skills along with the ability to perform data entry with accuracy.
• Ability to work under difficult circumstances and with difficult people is required.

Responsibilities

• Process persons arrested and search detainees upon entry into the Detention Center.
• Inventory and store detainees' personal property.
• Feed detainees and clean the lock up area.
• Monitor and update live-scan computer equipment and related software.
• Process detainee files and related clerical tasks.
