Champaign County is seeking a Detention Officer (Part-time) to monitor and control security systems within the Juvenile Detention Center and assist full-time officers with detainee supervision. Responsibilities include transport of detainees to appointments and relaying information to staff.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license, with duties performed in a demanding, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret data.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, or schedule form.

Responsabilités

• Supervise detainees and provide programming/educational support.
• Conduct room searches and room checks.
• Monitor internal and external security of the facility.
• Interact with the public, social service agencies, and law enforcement by phone or in person.
• Transport detainees to appointments and relay information to officers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
