Job summary

Village of Villa Park is seeking a Weekend Recreation Center Custodian to keep our facilities clean and welcoming. The role involves cleaning spaces, maintaining surfaces, and preparing rooms for events at the Recreation Center and Parks facilities.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and can work Saturdays and Sundays, with potential extra hours. Training is provided, and safety is a priority.

What You’ll Do

Your days might include:

• Keeping our rooms, halls, fitness center, gym, and common areas spotless
• Making our furniture, décor, and artwork sparkle
• Ensuring restrooms and high-touch areas stay clean and safe
• Preparing rooms for programs, events, receptions, and meetings
• Helping maintain outdoor areas, sweeping, clearing walkways, tidying grounds
• Keeping an eye out for maintenance needs and reporting anything unusual
• Using cleaning tools and equipment safely and effectively

Schedule

This part-time, non-exempt position offers up to 20 hours per week, primarily on Saturdays and Sundays, with opportunities for additional hours as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• A high school education (or equivalent knowledge)
• Previous custodial experience is great, but we’re also happy to provide training
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Strong customer service mindset
• Someone who takes safety seriously
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly (up to 100 lbs occasionally with assistance) and stay active throughout the shift

You’ll also need to pass a Village-administered medical/physical exam.
