Job summary

ANSONIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS is hiring a part-time School Custodian for 3:00 PM–7:00 PM. The role reports to the Director of Facilities and starts ASAP. Duties include cleaning, maintenance, and basic upkeep of school facilities, with mandatory overtime when needed.

Responsibilities cover cleaning, safety, light maintenance, and snow removal assistance, with a focus on maintaining a clean and safe environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety, operating, and maintenance documents.
• Ability to communicate clearly with students, parents, staff and community.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff and community.
• Ability to follow district requirements and Board of Education policies.
• Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to requests from Director of Facilities and/or school administration as needed.
• Cleans and monitors designated spaces and equipment; sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping and waxing floors; rubbish removal.
• Cleans and disinfects sinks, toilets, urinals and mirrors.
• Check hand soap, paper towel, and tissue supplies and keep stocked.
• Replaces light bulbs as needed.
• Unlocks/locks premises, secures windows and activates/deactivates alarms.
• Cleans and maintains custodial equipment daily.
• Assists with unloading freight and delivering to areas as needed.
• Moves classroom furniture as needed.
• Performs basic maintenance and painting as needed.
• Assists with snow removal and de-icing as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
• Mandatory overtime when needed

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILTIES

• Responds to requests from Director of Facilitiesand/or school administration as needed throughout the day
• Cleans and monitors designated spaces and equipment in the building, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping and waxing floors; rubbish removal

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequent walking, bending, twisting and lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks
• Continuous use of hand strength to grasp tools and cleaning equipment and climb on ladders
• Push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, and/or cleaning equipment

COMPENSATION AND HOURS

$19.78 per hour 4 hours a day. No Benefits
