ANTICIPATED Evening Floater Custodian (1 Position)
Hourly Rate: $21.72, per AFT Contract
Hours 5 hours per day; 3pm-8pm, 20 hours per week (4 days per week, specific days to be determined)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Summary
Performs general custodial under the supervision of the head custodian and director of facilities.
Qualifications
- Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by some custodialexperience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience thatprovides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
- Able to lift between 20 and 50 pounds recurring basis, or considerable skill,adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving veryclose tolerances or limits of accuracy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs the cleaning of all facilities and grounds on site, cleaning from ceiling tofloor, inside and outside of buildings as assigned.
- Performs interior cleaning, including sweeping, mopping, stripping and waxing hardfloors; vacuuming and cleaning carpet; cleaning break areas and associatedappliances, drink machines, etc.; clearing tables; dusting surfaces; cleaning glasssurfaces; cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and stocking supplies, etc.,
- Removes trash from buildings.
- Removes trash and debris from grounds; cleans exterior matting, windows, doorframes, etc.
- Moves furniture and other fixtures as needed; assists with setting up / tearing downtables, chairs, etc., for meetings and special events as necessary.
- Notes and reports any building / grounds maintenance needs to Head Custodian.
- Secures facility on a daily basis; turns off lights in unoccupied areas and reportsenergy management policy offenses to head custodian.
- May put up or take down flag on a daily basis.
- Requisitions supplies and materials as needed to perform assigned duties.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of work completed and materials used.
- Performs all duties in compliance with District and department policies, proceduresand standards of quality and safety.
- Receives and responds to concerns, complaints and inquiries in areas ofresponsibility.
- Operates floor buffers, vacuums, carpet shampooers, and other cleaning equipment;uses various cleaning supplies and chemicals, hand tools; operates general officeequipment.
- Interacts and communicates positively and professionally with various groups andindividuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers, District / schooladministrators and staff, students, and the general public.
- Attends training, meetings, etc., as necessary to maintain and enhance jobknowledge and skills.
- Accepts, unloads and delivers shipments of goods for school departments asdirected by the head custodian.
- Addresses needs of vendors & subcontractors as directed by head custodian or principal.
- Requires the ability to read work orders, technical instructions, and schedules.
- Follows verbal and written instructions. Communicates effectively and efficiently withco-workers and the general public.
- Requires the ability to prepare routine records with the proper format.
- Has the ability to speak before others with poise, voice control and confidence.
- Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,oral or diagrammatic form; to deal with problems involving several concretevariables in or from standardized situations.
- Makes routine independent judgments in absence of supervision.
- Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, to multiply and divide, to determinepercentages and decimals and to determine time. Must be able to use practicalapplications of fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion.
- Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes in using custodial equipment; tooperate motor vehicles.
- Requires the ability to deal professionally with students, staff and parents.
- Performs under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines.
- Workers may be subject to danger or risk to a slight degree.
- Performs related duties as required.
