Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is hiring for a part-time Custodial Porter in Kailua, HI. The role requires reliable and detail-oriented individuals to maintain a clean, safe commercial space. You will perform general cleaning tasks, operate cleaning equipment, and follow company procedures with a focus on teamwork and safety.

Starting wage is $16.00 per hour with a 19.5-hour work week. Candidates must pass the prescreen check; driver’s license is preferred but not required, and prior custodial

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• HBM prescreen check required.
• Experience in custodial/housekeeping or related field preferred.
• Ability to lift, push, pull and carry 25–50 lbs.
• Valid Hawaii driver’s license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Read, write, speak and understand English clearly.
• Clean and maintain the commercial space per procedures.
• Use blower to clear leaves and debris; manage trash disposal daily.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust and replenish supplies. Maintain walkways clear.
• Collaborate effectively with team; report safety issues to management.
• Perform duties as assigned by HBM management.

Schedule:

Days varies between Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 12:00PM to 5:00PM.

Number of Hours:

19.50-hour work week.

Hourly pay rate:

$16.00

Key Responsibilities:

• Effective Communication Skills: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Candidates should be comfortable with significant walking and moving between various buildings.
• Ability to work in different environments and various weather conditions.
• Ensure the commercial space remains clean and well-maintained.
• Clean the parking area using a blower to eliminate leaves and debris, disposing of them in the designated trash area. Thoroughly clean the trash enclosure area.
• Empty and clean all waste receptacles and cigarette containers, transporting trash to designated disposal areas. Replace liners in trash bins daily and refill sand in cigarette bowl containers as needed.
• Follow task checklists and HBM cleaning procedures.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards throughout the workday.
• Comply with all company safety policies.
• Perform general cleaning tasks including sweeping, maintaining cleanliness around the building perimeter, and ensuring walkways are clear of debris, dusting, mopping, sanitizing, wiping down areas, vacuuming, replenishing supplies and other necessary materials, collecting and disposing of trash from all waste receptacles and replacing liners, and cleaning up spills.
• Capable of collaborating effectively as a team.
• Communicate with management of any safety issues, damages, or building-related problems, such as burnt-out light bulbs or broken items.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by HBM management.

Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Hawaii driver’s license preferred but not required.
• Successful pass HBM prescreen check
• Experience in custodial, housekeeping, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with operating a pressure wash machine, leaf blower, baler machine, trash compactor buffer machine, strip and wax machine, walk-behind floor scrubber, walk-behind sweeper, ride-on machine is preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 25lbs to 50 lbs.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality
• Ability to follow procedures and instructions accurately
• Strong attention to detail
• Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks
