Hawaiian Building Maintenance in Honolulu is seeking a dedicated Custodian for part-time shifts. The role covers cleaning and maintaining both indoor and outdoor spaces of our warehouse, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The position requires basic English reading and communication, a willingness to learn, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. You will work Friday evenings and Sunday nights, ensuring clean, safe facilities.

Qualifications

• Must pass prescreen check.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must read and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Experience in janitorial, custodial, or related work preferred, but training is available.
• Strong public relations and communication skills are essential.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive cleanliness mindset.
• Capable of manual labor; frequent lifting 25–50 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Experience with forklift is a plus.

-Key Responsibilities

• Ensurecommon areas, surfaces (counter tops, tables, walls), restrooms are clean.
• Adapt to various work conditions, including sub-zero freezers.
• Monitor and maintain common areas by sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and operating equipment such as floor scrubbers, forklifts, scissor lifts, and power washers.
• Restocking supplies such as soap and paper products.
• Safely use ladders to access higher surfaces.
• Ensure the cleanliness of common areas within the building.
• Properly dispose of trash in designated areas.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols.
• Communicate effectively in English with team members and the property manager.
• Report any safety concerns or building issues, such as burnt light bulbs, to management.
• Report maintenance issues when necessary.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Previous janitorial, custodial, or related experience is preferred, but training is available.

• Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude towards maintaining cleanliness standards.
• Must be capable of performing manual labor, including cleaning common areas, pressing, pushing, and pulling, and frequently lifting and carrying 25–50 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
• Ability to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, walk, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, navigate stairs, and use a ladder, with the ability to stand throughout shifts.
• Willingness to learn and participate in training for the position.
• Capability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
• Experience in forklift operation is a plus.
