Job summary

The Oklahoma Military Department is seeking a PT Food Service Specialist to support the Sooner Job Challenge program in Oklahoma City. This role handles daily food prep for three meals daily, seven days a week, maintains sanitary kitchens, and follows the master menu and dietary instructions.

Essential duties include food preparation, dishwashing, recordkeeping, and occasional staffing during weekends or emergencies. Earn a respectable hourly wage with state retirement and leave benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six (6) months in a commercial or institutional food service operation or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Oklahoma Driver's license and ability to obtain a Food handler's permit
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Responsibilities

• Prepare foods, salads, and desserts; cook or bake as directed by the master menu
• Clean and prepare foods using knives, slicers, peelers and commercial equipment
• Follow written orders including recipes and dietary instructions
• Operate dishwasher and floor buffers as required
• Remove refuse and clean kitchen, dining and storage areas
• Label, load, deliver food; defrost and clean refrigeration units
• Prepare and serve meals for students and cadre; manage meat/poultry/fish prep
• Perform skilled work in operating an institutional food service unit for up to 100 meals
• Maintain records and reports; participate in staff meetings and training
