Job summary

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Cytotechnologist to join our pathology team. The role involves preparing, staining, mounting, and examining cells to detect cancer and other conditions, and working with the pathologist on reporting abnormalities. Schedule: Part-time, day shifts.

Candidates must be CT (ASCP) or eligible. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and credentialing in cytology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• CT (ASCP) certification or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Works to produce lab tests in an efficient organized manner.
• Adheres to STAT protocol.
• Assigns appropriate priority to samples.
• Microscopically screens slides and flags for pathologist review.
• Ensures cytology duties meet regulatory and accrediting standards.
• Maintains patient identification and specimen labeling policies.
• Prepares reagents and solutions for testing.
• Performs analytical testing with independent judgment.
• Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
