Job summary

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a part-time Cytotechnologist to join our team. The successful candidate will prepare, stain, mount, and study cells to detect cancer and other abnormalities, and work closely with the pathologist to report findings.

Responsibilities include preparing slides from specimens, adhering to STAT protocols, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. CT(ASCP) or eligibility is required along with a Bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• CANDIDATES MUST BE CT(ASCP) OR ELIGIBLE TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION
• Bachelor's Degree CT (ASCP) or eligible or equivalent credentials

Responsibilities

• Produces, stains, mounts, and studies cells to detect cancer and other conditions.
• Prepares and examines slides from blood, scrapings, or exudates.
• Fixes and stains slides to preserve visibility of cells.
• Reports abnormalities with the pathologist.
• Works to produce lab tests in an efficient, organized manner.
• Adheres to STAT protocol and prioritizes samples.
• Screens slides microscopically and routes slides to pathologist for review.
• Ensures regulatory and accreditation compliance for cytology duties.
• Maintains patient identification and specimen labeling policies.

Education

Bachelor's Degree CT (ASCP) or eligible or equivalent credentials
