Job summary

The Houston Area Women's Center seeks a Part-time Crisis Response Advocate to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, hospital accompaniment, and helpline/chat services to survivors.

This role is part-time, weekends, 7 a.m.–6 p.m., totaling 20 hours weekly, with a hybrid work model and 100% local travel for hospital accompaniment as needed. Benefits include comprehensive health and retirement plans, plus time away from work programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, Sociology, Social Work or Criminal Justice.
• Two years of experience in a social services setting or comparable.
• English or English/Spanish bilingual preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internal database systems.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with reliable transportation for off-site visits.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and information/referral to survivors.
• Hospitals accompaniment, 24/7 hotline and chat support as needed.
• Conduct danger assessment and safety planning for high-risk cases.
• Coordinate shelter placement and transportation with Shelter team.
• Attend monthly trainings and report suspected abuse when appropriate.
• Maintain inventory of information packets and clothing for clients.
