Job summary

The Houston Area Women's Center, Inc. seeks a Part-time Crisis Response Advocate in Houston, TX. You will provide crisis intervention, emotional support, danger assessment, safety planning, shelter placement, and information and referral to survivors through hospital accompaniment, 24‑hour hotlines, and chat.

The schedule is 20 hours weekly, Friday and Saturday nights 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., hybrid work model, with 100% local travel as needed for hospital accompaniment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, Sociology, Social Work, or Criminal Justice.
• At least two years’ experience in working with social services.
• Language: English or bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide hospital accompaniment, crisis intervention, emotional support, case management information & referral.
• Conduct danger assessment and create safety plans with survivors in high-risk cases.
• Coordinate shelter placement and emergency transportation with Hotline team.
• Oversee Mandatory Reporting and complete accurate client records for monthly reports.
• Communicate with on-call staff including Supervisors, Crisis Hotline/Chat Counselors, SANE nurses, law enforcement, and community partners.
• Attend mandatory monthly meetings and trainings with Hospital Accompaniment Crisis Counselors & Supervisor, all department staff meetings, and/or meet as assigned.
• Maintain inventory of information packets and clothing for clients; supplies provided by agency.
• Other duties as assigned.
