Job summary

Houston Area Women's Center is seeking an On-call Crisis Response Advocate to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and safety planning for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The role includes hospital accompaniment, 24/7 hotline/chat standby, and collaboration with a diverse care team in a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities include danger assessments, shelter coordination, and information/referral services across local hospitals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a social science, psychology, counseling, sociology, social work, criminal justice, or public health.
• At least 1 year of experience with survivors of domestic/sexual violence or in social services with diverse populations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word).
• English and Spanish bilingual preferred.
• Valid Texas driver’s license; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide hospital accompaniment, crisis intervention, emotional support, case management, information & referral, education, support, and advocacy to survivors at local hospitals and via nurse line as needed.
• Support survivors via 24 crisis hotline and chat when on standby for hospital visits.
• Conduct danger assessments and create safety plans for high-risk cases.
• Coordinate communication with on-call staff, supervisors, nurses, law enforcement, and community partners.
• Arrange shelter placement and emergency transportation as needed with Hotline and Shelter teams.
• Attend mandatory monthly meetings and trainings.
