Job summary

CorrHealth is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to inmates within a correctional facility in Texas. The role involves clinical assessment, care planning, medication administration, and collaboration with the health care team to maintain patient health and safety.

The RN will document medical records, participate in emergency response, and educate inmates on prevention and wellness while upholding HIPAA and security protocols of the facility.

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license.
• Correctional healthcare experience preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Ability to operate standard medical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assess health problems of inmates and initiate medical records.
• Respond to day-to-day medical issues and emergencies.
• Administer prescribed treatments and medications as needed.
• Prepare medical equipment, records, and rooms for examinations.
• Maintain IVs for IV therapies and monitor therapies.
• Coordinate with HSA and may serve as Charge Nurse or Acting Supervisor when needed.
• Follow emergency procedures and triage guidelines during crises.
• Provide CPR and use AED when required.
• Educate patients on diet, hygiene and prevention of chronic diseases.
