Job summary

CorrHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide a full range of nursing services to inmates, including assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementing, and evaluating the medical condition of inmate patients in a correctional facility.

The role requires collaborating with the health care team, maintaining patient privacy, and adhering to security policies. CPR/BLS certification and a current RN license are required.

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license.
• Nursing degree or diploma from an accredited program.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Correctional healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses health problems of new inmates and starts medical records.
• Responds to day-to-day medical issues and emergencies.
• Administers prescribed treatments and medications as needed.
• Prepares equipment, records, and rooms for examinations.
• Maintains IVs for IV therapies, as needed.
• May serve as Charge Nurse or Acting Supervisor in absence of the HSA.
• Follows emergency procedures and triage guidelines.
• Capable of CPR instructions and AED use if trained.
• Uses standard medical equipment (AED, EKG, BP, oxygen, Glucometer, etc.).
• Delegates tasks to lower level staff and educates patients on prevention.
