Job summary

The Joseph “Eddie” Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, Kentucky is seeking a part-time Cook I to support Kentucky’s Veterans with compassionate, dignified care. You will perform general cooking duties, prepare specialty dishes, and help maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen environment to ensure high-quality meals for residents.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of cooking experience in a large-scale setting.

Qualifications

• One year of cooking experience in an institutional or large-scale commercial setting.
• Vocational training in food service will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
• A fingerprint-supported national background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment.
• This agency is prohibited from hiring employees with convictions identified in 906 KAR 1:190.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cooking duties.
• Mixes and cooks specialty dishes and delicate foods.
• Maintains records of food used and supply on hand.
• Maintains dietary work areas, equipment and utensils in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Ensures proper storage of food.
