This position plays an important role in preparing nutritious, appetizing meals for Kentucky’sVeterans while supporting our commitment to fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providingcompassionate care.

Qualifications

  • One year of cooking experience in an institutional or large scale commercial setting.
  • Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Vocational training in food service will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, bake, and serve palatable and appetizing meals in a timely manner and in accordance with established recipes, portion requirements, and sanitary regulations.
  • Assist with meal preparation and service based on resident census and food-production needs.
  • Taste and test meals to ensure they are properly cooked, seasoned, and ready for service.
  • Maintain dietary work areas, equipment, utensils, and food-service spaces in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition.
  • Complete scheduled cleaning duties, including dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing work areas.
  • Ensure food is stored properly and maintain appropriate food-handling practices.
  • Dispose of food and waste in accordance with applicable rules, regulations, and facility procedures.
  • Maintain records of food used and supplies on hand, as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as required.
