Job summary

The Bowling Green Veterans Center, operated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, seeks a knowledgeable Food Preparation Center Coordinator to lead daily food-service operations in Dietary Services. Qualifications

• Leadership experience in institutional or healthcare food-service settings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily dietary staff operations.
• Oversee serving-line times, portions, temperatures, and waste.
• Supervise Cook II, Cook I, and Food Service Workers on rotating basis.
• Plan and prepare daily menus per facility needs and dietary requirements.
• Inspect menus, tray cards, and diet orders for accuracy and safety.
• Train dietary employees and evaluate performance.
• Ensure food-safety and sanitation training is current.
• Enforce rules and procedures related to food preparation and service.
• Review menus and inventory to ensure supplies of staples and dietary materials.
• Receive, store, and monitor food and supplies.
• Ensure cleaning duties are completed and area is safe and sanitary.
• Compile routine reports and records (temperature logs, etc.).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

The Bowling Green Veterans Center is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Food Preparation Center Coordinator to lead daily food-service operations in our Dietary Services Department. This position helps ensure that Kentucky’s Veterans receive safe, timely, sanitary, and high-quality meals in an environment centered on fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care.

• Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of dietary staff.
• Oversee serving-line times, meal portions, food temperatures, and food waste.
• Supervise Cook II, Cook I, and Food Service Workers on a rotating basis.
• Plan and prepare daily menus in accordance with facility needs and applicable dietary requirements.
• Inspect menus, tray cards, and diet orders for changes to help ensure meals are served accurately, safely, and on schedule.
• Train dietary employees and evaluate work performance.
• Ensure required food-safety and sanitation training is completed and certifications remain current.
• Enforce departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to food preparation and service.
• Review menus and inventory to ensure adequate supplies of staple and non-staple foods, snacks, equipment, and other dietary materials.
• Receive, store, and monitor food and supplies.
• Ensure scheduled cleaning duties are completed, and the food-service area remains safe, clean, and sanitary.
• Compile and maintain routine reports and records, including temperature logs, sanitation procedures, resident food preferences, meals served, food deliveries, inventory, time and attendance reports, and condition of the food-service area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This job classification is approved for the following shift premiums, in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(2), which are applied to the base salary:

• Second and Third shift: 15%
• Weekend and Holidays: 25%

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of sub professional or professional experience in a food service operation.
