Job summary

Western Nevada College seeks part-time adjunct instructors for ongoing pool to teach assigned courses at Carson City or Fallon campuses. Instructors will prepare syllabi and instructional materials, maintain records, evaluate students, and engage with the Community Education office to address issues.

A criminal history check and pre-employment drug test are required. Minimum qualifications include subject matter knowledge, ability to communicate with faculty and students, and CPR/First Aid

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience in the subject matter to be taught.
• If the class is a safety or physical education class instructors must hold a Current First Aid and CPR certification, and certification in the physical education class they want to offer.
• Copies of certifications must be provided with course proposal.
• Experience teaching college level courses is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with college faculty, staff and students.
• Fluency in Spanish is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses as specified in curriculum and be available to students during the contract period.
• Prepare course syllabi, course outlines (if necessary) and related instructional materials.
• Maintain a professional conduct.
• Maintain student records, including attendance (through sign-in and class roster).
• Administer and submit student evaluations.
• Communicate with the WNC Community Education office to provide feedback from class including issues or concerns.
• Understand and comply with WNC safety and security policies.
• Participate in student retention activities as requested.
• Promote college educational programs and services to the communities served by WNC.
