Qualifications

  • Equivalent to two years of college level coursework in a field related to the work and two years of experience in work involving interpretation, enforcement of codes, or inspection of properties for housing/zoning/building code enforcement.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and responds to complaints regarding zoning violations, debris, waste, abandoned vehicles, weeds and other zoning code issues.
  • Researches property ownership and documentation; contacts owners; schedules inspections; interprets codes and explains procedures to responsible parties.
  • Performs abatement of hazardous or nuisance circumstances; issues notices of violation with remediation steps and timelines.
  • Monitors compliance activities; conducts follow-up and final inspections.
  • Contributes to file creation and maintenance; prepares written correspondence and reports.
