Job summary

Clark County is seeking a Senior Code Enforcement Specialist for the Public Response Office within the Administrative Services Department. You will lead a small team of Code Enforcement Officers, provide field training, and coordinate enforcement of Clark County Code Titles 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 22 and 30.

You will inspect properties for building and zoning code conformance, research ownership and permits, issue notices of violation, and testify when required.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to two years of college coursework in construction technology or related field and two years of full-time experience enforcing zoning/building codes.
• Education and experience must be documented in the application; no resume only submissions.

Responsibilities

• Provides lead direction, training and work review to a small group of Code Enforcement Officers; assigns tasks and monitors completion.
• Responds to complaints regarding zoning violations, debris, waste, and code violations.
• Inspects properties for conformance to codes (building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, zoning).
• Researches property ownership, variances, permits; contacts owners and schedules on-site inspections.
• Issues citations/Notices of Violation and outlines remedial actions and time limits.
• Monitors compliance activities, conducts follow-up inspections, and testifies in court as required.
