Job summary

City of Elmhurst is seeking a PT Code Enforcement Officer to investigate and enforce property maintenance, municipal, zoning and building codes. The role requires inspecting sites, communicating with property owners, and maintaining records of inspections and actions. Ability to testify in court may be required. Equal opportunity employer.

The position is part-time (up to 19 hours per week) with a salary range of $30.83–$46.25 per hour and benefits as outlined in the City’s handbook.

Qualifications

• Two years of college-level coursework in construction technology or related field, or an apprenticeship.
• Two years of experience as a Code Enforcement Officer or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Investigates property maintenance, municipal and zoning code violations.
• 72/47?
• Performs site inspections for new construction and remodels for code compliance.
• Documents inspections and actions and issues notices to correct violations.
• Testifies in court or adjudication hearings as required.
