Job summary

Qualifications

  • Two years of college-level coursework in construction technology or completion of an apprenticeship.
  • Two years of experience as a Code Enforcement Officer or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates code violations and enforces property maintenance, municipal and zoning codes.
  • Performs site inspections for new construction, remodeling and home improvements to ensure code compliance.
  • Provides information to property owners regarding code requirements and City policies; resolves complaints when possible.
  • Maintains accurate inspection records and issues notices to correct violations.
  • Collects evidence for court, testifies at hearings, and participates in adjudication as required.
  • Keeps knowledge up to date on Property Maintenance Code and Municipal Code through training.
