Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a part-time phlebotomy/central processing technician for Carolinas Medical Center - Lab: Central Processing. The position is 24 hours per week on the first shift, with either 6:00 am–2:00 pm or 6:00 am–6:30 am schedules.

Responsibilities include collecting blood samples, processing nonblood specimens, patient registration, documenting tests, and using hospital information systems.

Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma or GED required; certification in phlebotomy preferred for facilities where phlebotomy is an assigned duty.
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform minor laboratory tests.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to operate, clean, and sterilize.
• Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with staff.
• Knowledge of computer systems and applications.
• Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and universal precautions to establish a safe work environment.

Aufgaben

• Collects and/or processes patient blood obtained by venipuncture and/or capillary puncture timely and accurate.
• Performs specimen preparation and transport of patient specimens.
• Performs phlebotomy following established procedures in accordance with patient age considerations.
• Registers patients and handles routine documentation.
• Maintains knowledge of lab information systems and reports results to staff.
• Trains new team members and students in the department.
