Job summary

Catawba County Library System is seeking a part-time Library Assistant who delivers excellent customer service at the circulation desk and supports technology access for patrons. You will help maintain an organized space and contribute to programs and outreach.

The role requires lifting and standing for long periods, with a schedule that includes day, evening, and Saturday hours at the St Stephens Branch Library and other locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Proficiency with a variety of computer programs and technologies
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, push up to 50 pounds, stoop/kneel to shelve books, and stand for long periods at the circulation desk

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service at the circulation desk by checking in/out materials, managing library card accounts, resolving issues, placing holds, transferring items, and assisting with sales and fees.
• Assist patrons with technology, including computers, personal devices, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and online library resources.
• Maintain all library resources, including print, non-print, and periodicals, and shelve materials; perform shelf maintenance.
• Support preparation, promotion, and execution of library events, services, programs, and outreach activities.
• React to change productively and perform other essential tasks as assigned.
