Job summary

Positive Development is seeking a Part-Time Child Development Specialist to work with autistic children in Richmond, VA and surrounding areas. You will be paid direct pay of $22–$28 per hour, with $20 per hour for admin/training, and you can choose 3–5 days per week with late afternoon/evening hours or weekend shifts.

Training and mileage reimbursement are provided. This role emphasizes coaching, family collaboration, and growth in clinical skills under experienced supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (must be 18+).
• Valid driver’s license + reliable transportation (30–40 min drive radius).
• Ability to perform physical tasks: floor play up to 2–3 hours, lift up to 40 lbs, move quickly for child safety.

Responsibilities

• You’ll build communication, social, and daily living skills with children through play and shared activities.
• You’ll create meaningful connections to help children think, create, and engage with the world.
• You’ll follow a relationship-based intervention model to achieve strong outcomes with fewer session hours.
• Track progress by documenting session notes and goal outcomes.
• Collaborate with clinicians and supervisors to build clinical skills and confidence.
• Learn how evidence-based developmental care works in real life, not just in textbooks.
