Job summary

US Coast Guard Community Services Command seeks a Part Time Child Care Assistant in Alameda, CA. The role supports the Child Development Center, coordinating age-appropriate activities and supervision across indoor and outdoor spaces.

You will assist in implementing curriculum, monitoring safety, and preparing materials while collaborating with staff and parents. A high school diploma or GED is required, with English fluency and prior child-care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must read, write and speak English.
• One year of general experience working with children.
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and work indoors/outdoors.
• Able to complete Tier 1 background investigation.
• Pass Civilian Medical Clearance exam every two years for childcare positions.
• Two years of education beyond high school preferred (12 college credits in relevant fields or a 1-year vocational certificate).

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute early childhood education experiences to promote development.
• Assist in developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
• Maintain safe, positive environments and supervise children across classrooms and play areas.
• Assist in daily reports and program participation data.
• Contribute to snack/meals arrangements where applicable.
• Other duties as assigned.
