Job summary

US Coast Guard Community Services Command is seeking a Child Care Assistant in San Juan, PR. The role supports a Child Development Center by planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, maintaining safe indoor/outdoor environments, and coordinating with staff and parents to promote healthy development.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, and experience with children. It offers an intermittent schedule and benefits typical of Coast Guard employment.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak English.
• One year of general experience working with children.
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Able to pass Tier 1 background investigation and maintain it every 5 years.
• Able to pass Civilian Medical Clearance exam every two years.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute early childhood education experiences to promote development.
• Assist in curriculum development and age-appropriate activities.
• Supervise and ensure safety in classroom, playground, and common areas.
• Prepare, arrange and maintain indoor/outdoor activity areas and materials.
• Interact professionally with staff, parents, and the command.
