Job summary

ST. CHARLES HEALTH SYSTEM is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to join the Operating Room team part-time in the days shift. You will support the perioperative team, prepare and drape the sterile field, pass instruments, and ensure strict sterile technique throughout the procedure.

Essential duties include assisting with patient positioning, instrument handling, counts, and post-case cleanup while maintaining safety and patient confidentiality in accordance with SCHS policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program or ABHES accredited program.
• Military surgical technologist program acceptable as alternative.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a member of the Surgical Services Perioperative team to ensure safe, efficient patient care.
• Prepares operating room, equipment, drapes and supplies for procedures.
• Maintains sterile technique and follows safety policies during surgeries.
• Assists with positioning, gowning, gloving and instrument handling for the surgeon.
• Participates in counts of sponges, sharps and instruments and supports patient care throughout the perioperative period.
• Cares for specimens, cleans the OR, and participates in decontamination procedures.
• Delivers courteous customer service and promotes learning for patients and families.
