Job summary

MercyOne Health System seeks a Certified Pharmacy Technician for MercyOne Central Iowa Medical Center in Des Moines. The role involves preparing and delivering medications, including IV admixtures, under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Responsibilities include stocking, audits, and training new staff. Education includes national certification and Iowa registration; HS may be waived with certification.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy tech role requiring preparation and delivery of medications and sterile products.
• PTCB certification accepted; HS not required if certified.
• Must be nationally certified and registered with Iowa Board of Pharmacy at hire.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders.
• Delivers medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms and care areas.
• Restocks medications and IVs; assists in audits and inspections.
• Restocks automated dispensing machines and cart inserts.
• Communicates stock utilization and ordering needs.
• Compounds and labels extemporaneous products for patients.
• Prepares IV admixtures (TPN, chemo IVs, piggybacks) per procedures.
• Provides training and mentoring to new employees; directs workflow as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
