Job summary

MercyOne Health System is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support the delivery of pharmaceutical care at MercyOne Central Iowa Medical Center. Responsibilities include preparing medications, delivering IV admixtures, stocking drugs, and assisting pharmacists under supervision.

The role requires national certification, Iowa registration, and completion of mandatory reporter training within months of hire. Hospital experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Prepares medication orders.
• Delivers medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms, critical care areas, and other ancillary areas.
• Credits to the patient and restocks usable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy.
• Assists pharmacists with audits and completes assigned unit inspections.
• Restocks automated dispensing machines.
• Restocks tackle boxes and cart inserts and completes check in/out process.
• Communicates stock utilization and ordering needs.
• Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients.
• Prepares IV admixtures including TPNs, chemotherapy IVs, IV piggybacks, and syringes following policies.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders.

• Restocks automated dispensing machines and tackle boxes.
• Assists pharmacists with audits and directions.
• Trains and mentors new staff.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

PTCB national certification
