Job summary

Kishwaukee College seeks a Library Assistant to support Library & Tutoring Services. The role focuses on front-desk service, learning environment supervision, and clerical tasks to keep the library functioning smoothly.

Responsibilities include assisting with interlibrary loan, shelving, events, and basic computer help for patrons, while promoting student success and inclusive service. This is a part-time, on-site position in Illinois.

Qualifications

• Communicate clearly and professionally in English in both verbal and written formats, tailored to diverse audiences and contexts.
• Commitment to equity and success of traditionally underserved populations.
• Computer and software application skills, especially Microsoft Office, and working knowledge of office equipment such as copiers and scanners. Comfortable learning new technologies.
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
• Attention to detail and timely completion of tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service in person and virtually to users for circulation, interlibrary loan, basic computer assistance, and tutoring reception functions.
• Monitor and maintain appropriate learning environment.
• Shelve library books and materials.
• Participate in shelf-reading and inventory.
• Process new or discarded materials.
• Assist with promotional activities and events.
• Support workshops, trainings, and meetings for Library & Tutoring Services.
• Provide clerical support for Library Services, especially for archives maintenance.
