The Library Assistant provides service for Library & Tutoring Services Information Desk functions, monitors the learning environment, maintains order and security of the collection, assists with interlibrary loan services, supports academic success promotions and events, and provides clerical support.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Communicate clearly and professionally in English in both verbal and written formats, tailored to diverse audiences and contexts.
- Commitment to equity and success of traditionally underserved populations.
- Computer and software application skills, especially Microsoft Office, and working knowledge of office equipment such as copiers and scanners. Comfortable learning new technologies.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Attention to detail and timely completion of tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent credit hours (60+)
- 1-3 years experience in customer service
- Experience working or volunteering in a library
- Demonstrated ability to build positive, respectful, collaborative relationships in a civil and inclusive environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education

- Work is normally performed in a general office environment.

- This position requires light physical activity and movement; employee must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone or during virtual meetings.
