Job summary

Ball State University Dining seeks a Part-Time Food Service Worker to assist in food preparation and serving on Ball State campus. The role may work up to 30 hours per week with varied shifts.

Responsibilities include cashiering, dishwashing, food assembly, and interacting with students and staff in a fast-paced environment. Qualified applicants must complete cashier training, read and follow safety policies, and meet physical requirements.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Cashier Training Class and passing score on final test is required for positions with cashiering duties.
• Must be able to read and comprehend all specified policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials information, and University policies, procedures and communications.
• No allergies to soaps, cleaning agents, oven cleaners, or other materials or environmental factors in food service, e.g., steam, dust, etc.
• Must have clean body, teeth, hair, nails, and clothing.
• Must be able to perform all physical and mental requirements outlined in each job duty/responsibility.
• You must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform a variety of tasks in the preparation and serving of food.
• Assemble supplies and materials; set up service area and serve food.
• Hand wash and store pots, pans, and food service equipment.
• Operate cashiering duties using computerized machinery, terminals, calculators, and maintain records.
• Greet customers to ensure positive relationships.
• Set up, operate and clean dishwashing machinery and auxiliary equipment; move dishware and equipment to proper locations.
• Scrape and wash dishes.
• Clean, prepare, store, and deliver fresh produce.
• Count and record amounts of food prepared and/or served.
• Grill or carve food as required.
• Obtain supplies from storage areas.
• Assist with laundry program.
• Wait and bus tables as assigned.
• Assign work to and direct student employees.
• Assist cooks in preparing food.
• Enforce all rules and regulations, including but not limited to; proper payment of food.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
