Ivy Tech Community College is seeking a Café Catering Assistant to support daily campus café catering and student learning in the School of Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management.

Responsibilities include food prep, sanitation, POS transactions, temperature control, and assisting in catering and campus hospitality events. The role supports student engagement and adheres to local/state health guidelines.

Qualifications

• Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or food service experience preferred
• Basic understanding of café, restaurant, or hospitality operations
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Able to work in a fast-paced educational and food service environment
• Stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds

Responsibilities

• Support food production, prep work, and basic culinary operations
• Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and safety standards
• Operate POS system transactions
• Monitor and document proper food temperatures and storage
• Assist with stocking, labeling, dating, and organization of cafe products
• Support cleanliness of kitchen and service areas
• Assist students during hands-on learning experiences
• Provide professional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and guests
• Assist with catering preparation and campus events
• Communicate operational needs with faculty and cafe leadership
• Follow Ivy Tech policies, procedures, and hospitality standards
