Job summary

The Culinary Institute of Charleston is seeking a Part-Time Relish Café Teaching Assistant to support student learning and daily café operations. This role provides hands-on instruction and guidance to students while assisting with customer service, POS transactions, product handling, and inventory support.

You will foster a positive learning environment, reinforce industry best practices, and assist with instructional activities that prepare students for careers in hospitality and food service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in café, restaurant, or service operations.
• Basic food safety knowledge.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Able to work independently and with others.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operation of the instructional café.
• Train and mentor students in café service.
• Operate POS systems.
• Support packaging, pricing, storage, distribution of bakeshop products.
• Provide constructive feedback to promote student learning.
• Maintain welcoming environment for guests, students, staff.
• Help maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
• Collaborate with faculty and leadership to support quality and improvement.
• Assist with inventory receiving and storage.
• Perform other related duties.
