Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking a Culinary Lab Technician to support the culinary Arts and Hospitality Management program. You will prepare the lab for classes, maintain cleanliness, manage supplies, and assist instructors with shopping for ingredients.

This part-time role offers a flexible schedule (15-20 hours per week) with a friendly team, campus facilities, and opportunities to contribute to hands-on learning in a state-of-the-art kitchen.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary or hospitality experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to lift and move equipment or supplies up to 50 lbs.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize the culinary lab for classes, including equipment and supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the lab and workstations.
• Monitor inventory and assist with ordering ingredients and supplies.
• Support instructors by shopping for needed ingredients.
• Ensure equipment is stored and maintained; report repairs.
• Assist with special events or additional duties as assigned.
• Maintain receipts and invoices.

Position: Culinary Lab Technician

Location: Ivy Tech Community College

Employment Type: Part-Time

Compensation: $15/ hours

Schedule: 15-20 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize the culinary lab for classes, including setting up equipment, supplies and food carts.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the lab, equipment, and workstations in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Monitor and inventory supplies, including ingredients, tools, and small wares; assist with ordering as needed.
• Support instructors by shopping for needed ingredients.
• Ensure equipment is properly stored, maintained, and ready for use; report repairs or replacements as needed.
• Adhere to and enforce food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Assist with special events or additional duties as assigned.
• Maintain all receipts and invoices.
