Job summary

The Café at Kirkwood, part of Kirkwood Community College, provides fresh, high quality food and beverages to students, employees and guests on the main campus. The catering assistant works with the catering coordinator to plan delivery schedules, verify orders and set up and serve food and beverages for campus events and banquets.

Responsibilities include ensuring a smooth customer experience, maintaining inventory, assisting with billing, and supporting various catering functions across Linn

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong customer service skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, courteous and efficient food and beverage service.
• Engage with Café Customers, Campus Staff, Students and Guests.
• Organize and deliver Linn Hall and Coffee Shop Grab n Go items.
• Maintain a clean and efficient inventory of items.
• Assist Café Office Coordinator with duties of opening The Café.
• Deliver consistently high standard of service across all areas.
• Support Café business needs in cashiering, barista, dish and prep as needed.
• Assist at banquet/catering facility and events at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center.
• Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
• Handle customer concerns and report to Catering Coordinator.
• Assist Catering Coordinator in booking new business.
• Assist Office Manager in billing all customers.
• Plan daily delivery schedule and next day pull sheets.
• Participate in department and pre-shift meetings.
• Maintain catering storage areas clean and organized.
• Maintain required training compliance.
• Attend work regularly and on time.
• Promote an inclusive environment for all backgrounds and perspectives.
