Job summary

Savannah Technical College is seeking a part-time Café Assistant to support daily café operations, serve students and staff, and help with kitchen and service duties in the campus lab environment.

Responsibilities include opening/closing, preparing coffee and light items, maintaining displays and cleanliness, handling the POS system, and assisting with catering and campus events while upholding ServSafe standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be ServSafe Manager certified.
• Minimum of 2 years verifiable entry-level hospitality experience.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures.
• Provide outstanding customer service to students, faculty, staff and guests.
• Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, and light café items.
• Receive, display and merchandise baked goods from Baking and Pastry students.
• Maintain attractive product displays and ensure proper food presentation.
• Operate the POS system and process transactions accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, dining area and stations.
• Monitor inventory and assist with stocking supplies.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Support faculty during laboratory production and service.
• Assist with campus catering events and special culinary showcases.
