Job summary

The Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a part-time Box Office Representative to greet guests, process ticket purchases, and manage will-call and guest-list tickets. This role requires accuracy in cash handling and a friendly, professional demeanor in a fast-paced venue environment.

Responsibilities include selling tickets, assisting patrons with seating, answering questions about events and policies, and reconciling the box office before and after performances.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; 1–3 years in customer service or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of training/experience may be substituted for education.

Job description

The Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts Center invites qualified candidates to apply for the part-time position ofBox Office Representative. We strive to create enjoyable, memorable experiences for our guests. The Box Office Representative plays a critical role in achieving this goal and creating a positive impression of our venue.

The Box Office Representative’s primary duty is selling tickets for events at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts. This involves heavy customer interaction and handling cash transactions. Selected candidates must be comfortable, proficient and trustworthy with counting cash and giving change back to customers. This position also hands out pre-purchased (will call) tickets to patrons. Attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks is a must.

Work Schedule

This position requires weeknight and weekend shift work.

  • Greet and maintain a welcoming environment for all guests
  • Process cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Assist patrons with ticket purchases and seating selections
  • Provide information and respond to patron inquiries about events, schedules, pricing, seating and venue policies
  • Distribute will-call tickets and guest-list tickets
  • Help prepare the Box Office before events and close/reconcile it afterwards
  • Follow policies regarding ticketing, cash handling, confidentiality and customer service
Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; 1 to 3 years' experience in customer service, call center, face-to-face customer service, or related field

OR

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in spoken Spanish to communicate with guests

  • Ticketmaster System
  • Theaters and Amphitheater seating and layout
  • Downtown area hospitality venues
  • Customer service principles
Skill In:
  • Attention to detail
  • Phone etiquette
Ability To:
  • Maintain professional composure in difficult customer service situations
  • Maintain awareness of upcoming venue events
Work Environment and Physical Effort:

Light: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Light work may include walking or standing to a significant degree and/or sitting a majority of the time while pushing or pulling arm or leg controls.

Work Environment:

Employees will frequently work in an office or similar indoor environment.

Work Exposures:

Employees will occasionally be exposed to individuals who are hostile or irate.
