Job summary

DC Scholars Public Charter School in Washington, DC is seeking a part-time Before Care/After Care Teacher for the Before/After School Program. You will mentor and supervise scholars from Preschool to 8th grade, helping them stay engaged and safe before and after school.

You will collaborate with teachers and parents, support classroom routines, and model positive behavior. Hours include morning and afternoon shifts with occasional event coverage; pay aligns with hourly rate.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• 1 year of teaching experience and/or 1 year of childcare/school setting experience preferred.
• Must pass criminal background check and TB test.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentorship and coaching to scholars Preschool–8th grade.
• Apply developmentally appropriate behavior management strategies and maintain a safe environment.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Attend occasional events with extra pay for additional hours.
• Be a positive role model for scholars and staff.
• Communicate with scholars' teachers and parents about strengths and growth areas.
• Demonstrate strong organization and ability to meet deadlines.
