Job summary

Elk River Area ISD 728 is seeking an AVID Tutorial Facilitator to support AVID students with academic and personal growth. The tutor will guide collaboration, encourage students to articulate answers, and help develop critical thinking through high-level discussions and writing review.

Positions are 1–6 hours per day, 2 days per week, with a starting wage of $17.00 per hour. Training and supervision are provided within district buildings.

Qualifications

• High School graduate; preferably enrolled at a 4-year college or university and a graduate from the middle or high school where they are employed as an AVID Tutor.
• Ability to become thoroughly grounded in AVID strategies (WICR: writing, inquiry, collaboration, and reading).
• Ability to role model the importance of learning and achieving academic success.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tutorial sessions emphasizing collaborative learning and student-led discussion of notes.
• Assist students in writing processes: brainstorming, clustering, read arounds, revision, editing.
• Support AVID Instructor in managing classroom tone and atmosphere and in communicating progress.
