Job summary

Vernon Hills Park District is seeking a Part-time Athletics Coordinator to support planning, organization and day-to-day coordination of district athletic programs, youth and adult leagues, events, and field reservations.

You will work with staff, volunteer coaches, schools and partners to deliver safe, high-quality opportunities in line with Park District standards. The role reports to the Recreation Facilities Manager and requires flexible evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Two years of athletics, recreation programming or sports administration experience.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required within 60 days of hire.
• Associate degree or higher in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education, or related field.
• Excellent organization, communication, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate youth and adult sports leagues, athletic programs, tournaments and special events.
• Prepare seasonal athletic program schedules, league calendars, practice arrangements and event logistics.
• Coordinate athletic field reservations and facility use with local schools, organizations, affiliates and leagues.
• Serve as a point of contact for participants, families, volunteer coaches, officials and league partners.
• Assist with recruitment, orientation, training and scheduling of part-time and seasonal athletic staff and volunteer coaches.
• Coordinate game-day and event staffing, officials, equipment setup and program readiness.
• Inspect athletic fields, facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness and functionality.
