Job summary

Crystal Lake Park District is seeking an organized, energetic Athletic Program Assistant to support a variety of athletic programs, leagues, tournaments, rentals, and special events in Crystal Lake. This hands-on role involves planning, scheduling, field preparation, coordinating rentals, supporting staff and volunteers, and delivering friendly service to participants and facility users, in all weather.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating athletic programs, leagues, tournaments, rentals, and special events.
• Help prepare athletic fields and facilities for scheduled activities.
• Coordinate field rentals and facility-use requests.
• Prepare program schedules, participant information, promotional materials, invoices, and reports.
• Assist with recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting seasonal employees and volunteers.
• Set up and take down athletic equipment and program supplies.
• Provide friendly, professional assistance to participants, patrons, and facility users.
• Identify operational concerns and recommend ways to improve programs and services.
• Support Lippold Family Golf Learning Center operations during busy periods and special events.

Part-Time | 20–25 Hours per Week

Do you enjoy sports, working outdoors, and helping programs run smoothly? The Crystal Lake Park District is looking for an organized, energetic, and dependable Athletic Program Assistant to join our team!

This hands-on position supports a variety of athletic programs, leagues, tournaments, facility rentals, and special events. No two days will be exactly the same—you may help coordinate a softball tournament, prepare an athletic field, support an event at the Lippold Family Golf Learning Center, assist seasonal staff, or respond to questions from participants and facility users.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating athletic programs, leagues, tournaments, rentals, and special events.
• Help prepare athletic fields and facilities for scheduled activities.
• Coordinate field rentals and facility-use requests.
• Prepare program schedules, participant information, promotional materials, invoices, and reports.
• Assist with recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting seasonal employees and volunteers.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a team player who takes initiative, communicates well, and can manage multiple priorities in a busy recreation environment.

Qualified candidates should have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• An interest in athletics, recreation, parks, or facility operations.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.
• The ability to work independently, solve problems, and follow through on assignments.
• Basic computer and office-equipment skills.
• A valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
• Current CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain it within the District’s required timeframe.
• Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  

This position includes indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Candidates must be able to move throughout athletic facilities and program areas and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
