Job summary

Husson University Athletics seeks a part-time athletic trainer to join the SportsMedicine team. Per diem role responsible for prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries for student-athletes, and for daily medical coverage during practices and events.

The position supports the athletic department and requires MAINE licensure or eligibility, NATA BOC, and CPR certification. Travel and overnight coverage are part of the duties, with mentorship of students as a CAATE preceptor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in athletic training from a CAATE‑accredited program (Master’s preferred).
  • NATA BOC certification is required.
  • Maine state licensure or eligibility is required.
  • CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prevent, evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate injuries for student-athletes.
  • Oversee general health care and coordinate referrals to physicians, therapists and Wellness Center staff.
  • Provide medical coverage for teams during practices and events, including travel and overnight duties.
  • Maintain medical records and communicate injury status to coaching staff.
  • Serve as CAATE-approved preceptor and mentor students during clinical experiences.
