Job summary

Child Development Schools is seeking an Assistant Teacher who will support the Master Teacher in delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities for young learners. You will help maintain a safe and organized classroom, participate in meals and outdoor play, and foster curiosity and growth in children.

You will observe and note developmental progress, communicate warmly with families, and assist with attendance and daily reporting.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Genuine care for children and safety commitment.
  • Strong communication and family relationship skills.
  • Physical ability to work with young children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Master Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom meeting licensing ratios.
  • Engage with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time.
  • Observe children and share developmental notes with Lead Teacher.
  • Build relationships with families through daily communication.
  • Help with classroom documentation including attendance and daily reports.

Your role

As an Assistant Teacher at Child Development Schools, you will help create a classroom filled with discovery, creativity, learning, and joy. Working alongside your Master Teacher, you will support young learners through meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, and growth. From hands-on activities and storytelling to everyday learning moments, you will help shape a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore the world around them.

What your day looks like:
  • Support the Master Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities for the classroom
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets licensing and ratio requirements
  • Engage directly with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time
  • Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher
  • Build relationships with families through warm, consistent daily communication
  • Assist with classroom documentation including attendance and daily reports
Pay and benefits

Pay: $11.00-$14-00 per hour, based on experience and education.

Requirements
  • At least 18 years old

A degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education and prior experience in a licensed childcare center are a plus, but not required. We hire for character and train for skill.
