Job summary

Family Dollar in Lumberton, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities, help customers, organize merchandise, and oversee opening/closing tasks to ensure smooth operations.

The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, retail management experience preferred, and the ability to lift up to 55 lbs. This is a part-time position with opportunities to lead and coach staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Retail or store management experience preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• Detail oriented with organization and scheduling abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies; ensure associates follow policies and procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restocked, and presentable; manage bathrooms and floors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
