Job summary

Family Dollar in Salem, KY is hiring an Assistant Store Manager for part-time store operations, customer service, and team development. You will support opening/closing, merchandise handling, and adherence to corporate directives while maintaining a clean, organized sales floor and stockroom.

This role requires strong communication, teamwork, and leadership to foster a safe, friendly shopping environment. The position supports store managers in training and supervising associates, with a focus

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and handle frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping and loss prevention
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all store assets, including cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure staff follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, trash and overall appearance
• Other duties as assigned
